In the beginning…
Mountain Stream was only a dream. A desire. A prayer in the heart of Ken Davis, director of Project Jerusalem and the team of seminary and Bible college students he had recruited to plant a multi-ethnic, diverse church in the lower Poconos. Although much research, prayer, planning and foundation-building activities had been done, no one knew for sure how things would turn out.
On Sunday October 5, 2008 the founding team gathered in the Resica Elementary school auditorium nervously anticipating what was to follow. The setup was done. The necessary preparations completed. Now all they could do was wait and see if the people would come. They had done all they could. The rest was in God’s hand. And did God ever deliver…
God exceeded all expectations when more than 200 persons including friends and well-wishers from other churches turned up on that Sunday for a great time of worship. And God has continued to exceed expectations ever since.
From the outset, Mountain Stream was committed to being a diverse church that would actively seek to help people advance in their relationship with Christ. This desire is embodied in the church’s motto: A Place to Belong … A Place to Become, and is affirmed in its theme verse: Col 1:28 “Him [Christ] we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we present everyone mature in Christ.” Reflecting that passion the church comprises people of different ethnicities, different educational backgrounds, different economic standings and different ages striving to become what God has called them to be.

Over the years...
God has done so much in the life of the church. Small groups and ministry projects have helped to deepen relationships and cement people together. Regular outreach activities such as the yearly Community Family Fun Day and the church’s presence at community activities have made the church a recognizable and trusted name in the community.
God has saved and restored many lives. People have advanced in their walk with the Lord, dozens have been baptized, dozens have recommitted themselves to Christ, and we continue to pray for dozens more to take those steps
We have been a church on the move – literally. After meeting in the Resica Elementary for about 2 years, the church moved to facilities at the Pocono Square Mall. As the space got tighter, the church sought and secured the former Lippy’s Bar as its new meeting location. The conversion of this building into a place of worship is an object lesson of how God can transform any life for His purposes. The new space allows us to offer better children ministries, and Christian education training. We can’t wait to see how God will use these facilities to enhance our ministry opportunities.

For the Future…
We remain passionate about reaching and serving our community for Christ. We long to grow – numerically, yes – but more so spiritually. We want to grow and change as individuals so that we will be wonderful examples of Christ to our community. We want to be Christ’s hands and feet to our needy world.
